Continuing on the Bobby Digital/cartoon super hero vibe, RZA just released the second video, Drama ft. Monk and Thea, from his latest album, Digi Snacks. From a production standpoint, I enjoyed listening to RZA’s latest album. Check it if ya haven’t.

I heard the other day that Washington DC producer and MC Oddisee was about to record an EP with Peter Rosenberg, in which they entered the studio for a marathon recording session that would result in the entire EP. Today on Nah Right, eskay confirmed the thing happened and cosigned on the effort. I’m happy to hear that, especially because I’ve been a fan of the dude since he dropped Oddisee 101, something like a year ago, which I still bump to this day. Oddly enough, I have some old bootleg version before he even started charging for it. It’s on iTunes now with legit cover art and everything. The difference a year (or two) can make, huh.

From what I hear, the The Rosenberg Oddisee EP will be available any day now. Oddisee told us what we could expect via his blog

I supplied the beats and we filmed the whole thing. Produced and recorded in one day we bring you new material from Saigon, Nikki Jean, Skyzoo, Torae, Buck Shot and myself.

In the meantime, if you haven’t been acquainted with Oddisee, check out his MySpace for some stuff, cuz I don’t think I can post that 101 joint now that he’s charging, haha.

However, here’s one remix of his that’s been on heavy rotation around Marky Mark’s way for a hot minute now…

The table’s got built-in record holders, a laptop ventilation system, a back-lit logo panel, and….

My eyes lit up when I saw this on Grandgood a few minutes ago. It’s an old video of G Rap performing at the Uptown Comedy Club. This dude has been one of my favorite rappers for a long time, and I still look twice whenever I see the guy’s name or hear a track from him.

And you can bet any other things I see of his will be here too.

How can T.I. and Rihanna make a video for this song without giving this dude a cameo?

Why videos gotta be so serious all the time…

Our boy and one of the top hip-hop journalists out there, Chris Faraone, just did this piece on the RIAA for Boston’s alternative weekly, The Boston Phoenix. It’s on the RIAA and its efforts to pass new legislation to help their witch-hunt. Apparently they’ve been spending a lot of money to get Washington behind their effort… try $3 million.

What they’re doing is essentially trying to add a presidential cabinet position to be the “sheriff” of intellectual property. And when there’s still guys in Congress, and one running for president, that don’t use computers, or think the internet is “tubes,” that’s going to be an issue.

Faraone explains it better than I can, so peep it here.

DOWNLOAD: Black ELement- A Major Minority

So as I’m gettin’ back on two feet from a dope weekend in DC, I’m greeted with the release of Black ELement’s debut A Major Minority. If you read this site at all, you probably know him by now.. and if you don’t, now you have no excuse not to. EL sent me a copy a week or two ago and I’m beyond impressed.

In this internet age that’s made super-stars out of basement rappers and made hip-hop accessible to the world, there’s a lot of shit out there. There’s also a lot of good stuff, and this is in that “good” category. He’s had a tremendous amount of buzz for a good reason, and really has all the tools to be around for a while.

So don’t be a bandwagon fan a few years down the road, get on this now so you can be an asshole to your friends and say, “ahh shit man, I copped an album from him when it was free online.”

Congrats EL.

I don’t really like being away from here for any extended period of time, but once a year isn’t bad, so I hope you’ll forgive me. I’ll be in DC all weekend at Howard Homecoming, likely computer-less, so I’ll check in with ya’ll on Monday.
