Young Jeezy- Who Dat

You agree? We may be, but this video isn’t exactly what I had in mind. How is this different from any other Khaled video to drop this summer?

Peeped this over at Nah Right a few minutes ago. I show B.o.B. a lot of love here, but I think it’s deserved.

I’m ready to hear that full album, B.o.B.

I know the sight of that headline made 90’s hip-hop heads scurry to change their drawers. So I’ll just hit ya with the track up top. You don’t always have to save the best for last.

Download: Souls of Mischief - Tour Stories

I may not be the first to break this story, but I still gotta comment. If you haven’t heard, Souls of Mischief is gettin’ back together and have already dropped a single from their new album (download it above), which comes out sometime in 2009. They’re working with Prince Paul on the new record, not Statik Selektah, which some people have talked about since they dropped this video…

But as they say in this video…

…They aren’t working with Statik, YET. That’ll be something though, can’t wait to see that. And if the rest of the album is anything like the “Tour Stories” track, I don’t think we’re going to have to worry about a “return album” just to score a summer tour, a quick buck and put out a lame record (they never truly went away).

Hit the jump for part 1 of the interview with Emilio Sparks.

…and he’s got a mixtape coming out, according to the video. Joe’s trying to get Fab to tell people how much doper he is than everyone in New York, and to start some shit, but Fab won’t bite. Smart dude, especially when Joe Budden’s in your face with a camera. They also talk about what they consider to be underground. Apparently Budden thinks he’s underground. That’s a word that means nothing today if you really think about. It’s not the late 90’s anymore.

Download: Termanology - Circulate (100 Bars)

Term’s newest mixtape, titled If Heaven Was A Mile Away (A Tribute To J Dilla), is set to drop on New Years day via his website. To give us a preview, here’s a cut from it, with Term going in over Dilla’s now famous “Let the Dollars Circulate” beat. Hearing this beat again reminded me of Young Jeezy flipping the original sample himself on his latest album. Jeezy shoulda just used the Dilla beat. Sure his is dope, but he didn’t really flip it too hard. I’m getting away from the point, so just check this track out.

This was my favorite cut from the album, but I’m not sure I envisioned this song being about the recession when I first heard it. Looks like Young Jeezy ain’t the only rapper who can make our crap-tastic economy a good backdrop for a video.

I peeped this over at Nah Right a day or two ago, but I’ve been traveling, so I was slow gettin’ things up here. Peter Rosenberg sat down a few days ago with DJ Premier and they talked about everything from the sample on “Nas Is Like” to porn and his favorite rappers. The clip above is him talking about how he made the beat for “Nas Is Like,” and how he even got the original record the sample came from.

There’s a few more clips over at Nah Right, and they’re also after the jump. Check the second video if you want to hear Preem talk about how you make an R Kelly sample sound hard.

Download: Jockin’ Jay-Z (Travis Barker Remix)\

I think this may be better than the original. A beat like the original one needs to hit hard, and Travis makes the old version sound like it was made with some Fruity Loops drums. To be fair, it’s hard to compete with a well-mic’d live drum-set.

I also heard Travis is back on the drums after that horrible plane crash, so we can look forward to more from him soon. I’m glad to hear he’s doing well.
