DOWNLOAD: Wiz Khalifa - Ode to Naked Pop Stars

Ever since the Panamanian girls caused Pan-demonium (that was lame) and the ode song by BK Cyph dropped, you knew that it was going to become the norm when any interesting pictures came out.

Well Rihanna just had to one up Cassie, and Wiz Khalifa had to one-up the rest of the rap world with his own ode/freestyle. And here it is, over Drake’s “You the Best” beat. This was some week for pop starlets, sheeeeet.

DOWNLOAD: Mista Mista - Repeat (ft. Taktix)

Here’s a guy that’ll soon be on your radar, and by no accident either. I’m talkin’ about Providence, RI’s Mista Mista. In the short amount of time I’ve heard him, he’s shown me that he makes music with good ideas. With the downpour of music today, that’s all you can ask for.

Every time I see something like this, my cotdamn soul feels good. It’s hard to imagine hip-hop without The Roots. Here’s some footage of them performing with the Boot Camp Clik at their weekly show at the Highline Ballroom in NYC. I know the stans know about the performances by now, but they’ll always be worth mentioning to me.

YN posted some footage from is vault of a 2003 show Rocafella did in Puerto Rico, where the whole roster was in full force. Above is Kanye West performing “The Wire,” like it was his new single.

Damn.

That’s cuz it was his new single in ‘03.

2003 seems so ancient when you think of it like that. Hit the jump for Jay spittin’ a freestyle that later would become “The Threat,” and Freeway doin’ “Flipside.”

The Smoking Gun reported this week that longtime T.I. associate, Alfamega was a government informant in the late 90’s. Today, Tip dismissed him from Grand Hustle. The Smoking Section (not to be confused with the Smoking Gun), posted audio of T.I. making the announcement. There’s been no reported connection between T.I.’s latest jailtime and Alfamega at this time, though.

I guess when you’re in Tip’s shoes these days, you can’t take any chances, even if you’ve cleaned up.

DOWNLOAD: Drake- Take You Down

…Or whatever you do over R&B beats (pause?). You know how Drake likes to dip into the R&B stuff. This is a new track from Drizzy Drake that’s set to be released on a new mixtape titled, The Drought Is Over: Friends With Money. That mixtape may or may not be an official release from his camp, but if I had my money on it, I’d say no. It looks like it’ll be a “true mixtape,” with the rhymes over mainstream beats and all that. So Far Gone may as well have been a LP.
