DOWNLOAD: Black ELement- A Major Minority

So as I’m gettin’ back on two feet from a dope weekend in DC, I’m greeted with the release of Black ELement’s debut A Major Minority. If you read this site at all, you probably know him by now.. and if you don’t, now you have no excuse not to. EL sent me a copy a week or two ago and I’m beyond impressed.

In this internet age that’s made super-stars out of basement rappers and made hip-hop accessible to the world, there’s a lot of shit out there. There’s also a lot of good stuff, and this is in that “good” category. He’s had a tremendous amount of buzz for a good reason, and really has all the tools to be around for a while.

So don’t be a bandwagon fan a few years down the road, get on this now so you can be an asshole to your friends and say, “ahh shit man, I copped an album from him when it was free online.”

Congrats EL.

Unfortunately my friend Black ELement was unable to release his debut LP today, A Majority Minority. It happens sometimes, but he’ll come through. Read it from the horse’s mouth:

So this time, A Major Minority will be released very soon, but I’m not giving a date until everything is complete. No reasoning, just know its not done and extra touches are being put on the right spots.
-EL

But until then, he’s not one to leave us hangin’. He showed me this track last night, and I’m really feelin’ it. You ever wish you could have that feel you had when you first heard a record like the Black Star record? And now how like, everyone tries to make it and it just sounds old. Well, not with this. It’s got that same flavor and feel, but is what it is: real, new, and different. It doesn’t hurt when you put Jelani on the track either. Check it out, you won’t be sorry.

Download: Black Element & Dub Floyd - Missing Elements Vol. 1 (mixtape)

Black shared the news with me last night that he will unfortunately have to push back the release date of his debut album, A Majority Minority. But it’s not a Detox push-back, it’s just a week.

To hold you off, El dropped a mixtape this morning with Dub Floyd of the League Crew (with a pretty ill cover). Missing Elements Vol 1, is NOT the album, so don’t sleep next week when AMM drops. Many of the tracks on the mixtape are ones you’ve heard if you’ve been listening to El (like Down, I love that song), but there’s also some new ones. Not to mentioned the thing is mixed (for real), and El takes care of the hosting duties.

So check out the mixtape for now, and see why Black Element is an Okay Player, and a 2ManyMC’s … Player…Rapper? (I’ll work on that one)

Track list and back cover inside.

Black hit me up with this yesterday, my apologies for not posting it up sooner. This is the first single from A Majority Minority, the free LP that hits the internet next week. El also gave us the cover art (above) and the tracklisting (inside). I’m really looking forward to this. After I heard the “Down?!” joint that we put on the mixtape, I knew that the album had to be official if that track didn’t even make it.

There’s a lot of rappers out now, but El is for real, and with any justice, will do really well. I ain’t saying that because I know him, but because I believe it. Check it.

The second and final installment of our time with Black Element in Harlem. Black tells us more about himself, chops up the internet mentality of MCs, and more. Remember to check out his album, A Majority Minority, out September 18. Also look out for Black on the 2ManyMCs Mixtape, dropping this Tuesday.

Another installment of Black Element’s “Missing Elements” series, and the first on 2ManyMCs.com. If you have any short-term memory at all, you’ll remember him on the video here.

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday until Black Element drops A Majority Minority, on September 18, he’ll be hitting us up with unreleased tracks, and a little message about them. Here’s what he had to say this week:

Whenever I had a bad day as a kid, like any other child I would drift away into my own fantasy world where everything I wanted was available to me. I revisit that world of total freedom and no limits as a adult, where I’m in charge and there are no rules. If I was on a island and could take a few things…

Also, big shout out to 2DopeBoyz for posting the video we did of Black!

September 2, one week from today, 2manymcs.com will be dropping our first mixtape, featuring a new flavor of artists, from some of the hottest rising MCs, like Notherground’s Jelani, and the man featured above, Black Element, to a collection of new MCs you’ll be hearing about soon enough.

You can call this the first installment in our mixtape countdown. Filmed at St Nicholas Park in Harlem, Black Element shows us why he’s gaining so much attention. Make sure you check out his debut album, A Majority Minority, out September 18.
