After seeing Exile a lot last week, I don’t think I’ve seen a producer/DJ create the auditory explosion he does, while making it look so effortless. With some of the stuff he does, I’m expecting to look up and see a guy flailing his arms in a crack-head rage. Instead, you see Exile calmly making it look easy. Kind of like he’s doing here with DJ Day.

Blu and Exile win my award for the work horses of SXSW. I think they were at almost every showcase I was, and they were performing, not chillin’. The video above was at the Blacksmith showcase Thursday night, which was the first time I saw the two. By Saturday night, everyone’s voice seemed to be shot. I can’t imagine Blu’s voice would be much different, because I know guys like Mickey Factz’ and Outasight’s were.

Any time I saw Exile take part in a cipher, whether it was on the streets or on stage, he was the designated beatboxer (for obvious reasons I’m sure). Is there anything he can’t do?
