Joe Budden was on Angela Yee’s show yesterday and DJ Vlad called in to discuss the “beef” going on between him, Budden, and Ransom. The thing is, it’s not a beef anymore because Joe Budden manned up in a way that was as foreign to hip-hop as republicans. Joe’s little monologue at the end might sum up things in the “journalism” and blogosphere world of hip-hop better than anyone I’ve heard lately.

As I’m watching Jay Smooth’s latest video blog, I’m thinking to myself that the sorry state of affairs that we call an economy is affecting everyone in one way or another. And I don’t mean that in a cliche CNN way.

The past week or so, I’ve noticed all my fellow-bloggers have been slower than usual to pour the updates on us. I’m no exception, I’m searching high and low. Who knows why it’s truly been slow, but I suspect it has something to do with A&R’s and label people being more worried about their jobs than leaking the latest T.I. and Justin Timberlake track to the internet. Or maybe the industry is freaking out because they realized they (we) weren’t even making money in good economic times.

Sure, I’m a lil late with this one, but if you haven’t seen it by now, it’s another video of Jay Smooth speaking the truth… as usual. He’s absolutely right, a lot of the artists labeled “hipsters” have very little in common with each other musically. If anything, they’re more diverse than any “movement” to come along in a while.
